Maroochydore head to Christmas with win over Caboolture

Maroochydore have gone into Sunshine Coast Cricket’s Christmas break with 50 run win over Caboolture in their 50 over one dayer on Saturday.

The result means that their only losses have come in the Twenty20 format earlier in the season.

“It’s been a really, really great start to the season for us,” captain Blaine Schloss said.

“We locked away the T20 flag a few weeks ago and then we’ve been impressive to start in the one day format and in the two dayers a little bit earlier on in the season.

“We’ve only lost games in the T20 format so far.

“So pleased with how we’re going.”

The side is still looking for improvements despite their record.

“We’ve got a bit of improvement in us still,” Schloss said.

“We’re definitely not playing our best cricket.

“To be fair some of the teams the last couple of weeks have been missing a couple of their key guys.

“It’s nice to go into the Christmas break with a really good win under our belt. It makes the Christmas ham taste a bit better.

“We’ll be back in the new year and continuing to strive to get better.”

The Swans first game back after the break will be Nambour USC at the Nambour Showgrounds on January 10.

“I haven’t checked the scores today, but I know they had a good win last week,” Schloss said.

“And it looks like they’ve got a few of their troops back.

“Sledge [Steve Leadger] is going well as well.

“So they’re going to be tough competition for us.

“We’ll be missing a couple of our key guys who are going to be on Queensland Country duties as well.

“So that’ll be a nice hard match for us to move into the finals of this format with as well.”
