Caloundra have moved into fourth on the Football Queensland Premier League 2 ladder with at 2 goals to 1 win over Moreton City Excelcior B.
“That obviously just sets a statement,” said Caloundra captain Kaine Frew.
“We do mean business we’re not here to just make up the numbers. I think we go even points with them with a game in hand.
“So absolutely thrilled with that but it’s obviously now we know we’re into the pointy bit of the season.
“So we just got to build on that and take it week by week but obviously very happy.”
They go past Souths United who lost to Virginia United 3 goals to 0, and go to within a game and a half of a promotion spot.
“We do have a game in hand,” Frew said. “So we missed a game last week. Brisbane Knights, which will be played in about a month’s time, I think, down in Brizzy.
“I think the top top top five or six are starting to sort of move away from the from the bottom six. We just got to stay in the hunt and just keep building on that.
“We haven’t lost a game in a month i don’t think so if maybe even five weeks so we just got to keep going.”
Toowomba’s South West Queensland Thunder sit on top of the ladder followed by Brisbane’s Grange Thistle, Moreton City Excelsior B, Caloundra, and Souths.
Caloundra are due to play Pine Hills on Saturday.
“They’ve been getting results as well,” Frew said. “So it’s not going to be an easy game. And at the end of the day, yeah, we’ll just have to get prepared for Pine Hills.
“They play a little different to Ace, so I’m sure coaching staff will keep an eye on how they go this weekend and watch a bit of their footage. And then, yeah, we’ll work towards that for next [weekend].”
