Strikers in with a chance with good mix of young and old

Nambour USC have had an up and down season in 25/26 Sunshine Coast first grade season.

There have been some massive wins, some massive losses, and just about everything in between.

“We had a bit of a slow start in the Twenty20s,” captain Nick Wallace said.

“I think we only won two of the Twenty20s.

“So it took a while to get going with a few injuries here and there.

“People sort of coming and go in that early part of the year.

“Probably the last couple months we’ve had a lot more consistency with being able to string through a few good performances together.

“At the moment we’re sitting fourth, I think, in the one day and then we’re just outside the top four in the overall comp.

“So we’re pretty well placed going into Christmas.

“There’s still plenty points to chase later in the year.”

With so many ins and outs the challenge for the side has been consistency.

“It’s sort of been a bit of a momentum team this year, I think,” Wallace said.

“Once we’ve been able to keep the same 11 or the majority the same 11 blokes in the park each week we’ve been a lot better with our consistency.

“We had a really good month there, sort of the back end of the two days into the first couple of one dayers.

“We had a couple of off weeks with the bat in the one dayers, but last week we bounced back really well up at Coolum.”

In the last round before Christmas Nambour USC fell 37 runs short against Caloundra despite a 97 to Steve Ledger.
