Caloundra keep full strength team going after Christmas

Caloundra will be hoping to have a full first grade team available when they play Tewantin in Tewantin after the Christmas break as part of Sunshine Coast Cricket’s first grade competition.

“The season has probably been the story of not being able to get a full team on the park, captain Will Carlile said.

“We’ve played alright in patches. Had a few close games.

“We’ve struggled to get everyone available all of the time which I think has hurt our momentum.

“We’re sitting in the lower half of the comp.

“I think we’ve played a lot of good cricket and it’s pretty hard I think where we’re sitting considering some of the cricket we’ve played but yeah, probably a bit disappointing in that regard.”

On the bright side, Caloundra managed a 37 run win over a Nambour USC side that had put the sword to Coolum a week earlier.

This off the back a century from Jean-Luc Talbot.

“Yeah that was awesome,” Carlile said.

“[That was our] first hundred for us for the season which was really good.

We had a couple of guys close last week. They didn’t quite get it. A couple of 90s.

“And for JL to get it over the over line, to see how much it meant to him. He was pretty excited and meant to all the boys. So yeah really happy for him.”

“He’s been big for us this season.

“Really good cricketer, very vocal leader.

“He’s been really good with the bat and he’s had a really good run of form.”
