Nambour went within the width of the upright of defeating Brothers in their round 2 Sunshine Coast Rugby Union women’s game on Saturday at Woombye. The score finished at 21 all.
“Probably not the result we’d worked hard for, said Nambour co-coach Jessica Broadhurst.
“Probably came down to a few errors in that last five, ten minutes.
“But we had a penalty to win it and we back ourselves there and unfortunately didn’t come up with the results.
“We’ll keep working on that. And I think the most pleasing thing was the confidence to have a shot and see how we go.”
Brothers came from behind to draw level in the second half.
“It was a tough game, said winger Yana Jumpachot. “But we got there.”
“Obviously, the score was 21-21. And I feel like we could do a little bit better from our team, for sure. Just moving up and kind of just resetting the whole game.”
Despite the draw the team was positive.
“It was really coming together with all the new girls,” said number 8 Nicolani Kolinisau.
“They’re really stepping up and putting themselves out there, which is really good.”
