The Sunshine Coast Falcons have gone to seven wins in a row with a hard fought win over the Brisbane Tigers at

“[We’re] really lucky to get away with it,” said Falcons coach Brad Henderson. “We probably just got enough of a lead at the start to not get blown away, I feel like we could have been better.

“Easts played some really good, fast footy. Particularly through that middle 20-minute period of the second half there, it felt like we just couldn’t go with them. You know, we did.

“We just hung in there. Another one we’re probably a little lucky to get away with. But we’re making a habit of that, so I’m not complaining.”

Josh Bishop opened the scoring for the Falcons with a sixth minute try that was converted by Josh Lynn. Taine Cooper scored the games second try at eleven minutes.

The Falcons lead at half time ten points to none.

“[W]e did a lot of work in that first half,” said Falcons captain Sam Burns. “We sort of set the game up and then we lost our way in a few sets in that second half and they sort of scored two tries, [and] got ahead.”

Those two tries were to Clay Web in the fifty ninth minute and to Esom Ioka seven minutes later.

Zach Lamont converted both tries to take the Tigers to a twelve points to ten lead.

It wasn’t long before Josh Billing crossed for his second try to take back the lead.

“[H]e’s a serious player Bilo,” said Henderson. “He’s had no luck since he got here and he’s played every game this year and it’s not easy for him.

“We have to save him from himself during the week in terms of how many Ks he can do.

“But he’s a serious footballer and we’re starting to see the best of him now. He came to us as a try scorer and we’re starting to see that now.”

That last try proved to be the match winner.
