Women’s rugby on the Coast will welcome University back in season 2026.
They last played in the women’s competition in 2022.
“It’s been a couple of years off,” said men’s full back Jordan Armstrong. “But the girls have been turning up Tuesdays and Thursdays getting their training in.
“It’s incredibly exciting for Uni to have a women’s team back,” said SCRU chair Sarah Ridgewell
“The Uni women’s team started in the year 2000, so it’s been a long time for them to come back.”
“Yeah, incredibly exciting, especially as a former player of Uni.”
The women’s competition lines up with to two men’s grades with the only difference being Caboolture not fielding a team and Nambour slotting in where they would otherwise be.
“It’s something that the clubs really support and when we talk about senior teams that’s what we’re talking about, those three key teams.
“And Nambour, I’m excited to see how they go this season. They’ve got some great new recruits and uh some great coaching staff.
“It’s great to see the growth [in Coast women’s rugby] and especially our adult females seeking to play rugby and connect with the club for a whole season.”
